Patients Will Soon Be Able to Access Their Health Data Online

The new NHS service to be offered through a website has found a sponsor in Health Minister, Edwina Hard, who has decided to put in £1.7 million in the service that would enable the patients to go through their medical records, order prescriptions online as well as fix appointments with their GP’s through the website.
The ministry has not disclosed the start date for the service but trials have been conducted in a number of areas including Carmarthenshire,
According to Hart, in order to ensure that people have a better lifestyle as well as better health, it is important to provide them with easy access to information, especially in wake of rising demand for online GP services.
Supporting Ms. Hart’s view, Dr Richard Lewis, Welsh secretary of the British Medical Association commented that for making sure that a good communication gateway is maintained in the community information systems are quite essential. Not long back, technology firm Phillips has announced its technology set up to enable critical cases to be monitored from home. The technology already put to trial enables the patients to test their blood pressure and oxygen levels in the body. They can also forward this data to Primary Health Trust through broadband.
